James Patrick Coughlin Sr., 83, of Finleyville, died Thursday, Dec.16, 2021, in AHN Jefferson Hospital, Jefferson Hills. He was born March 16, 1938, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the son of Charles and Helen Maynard Coughlin. After Jim graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1956, he went on to study at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., graduating in 1960. Jim spent many years volunteering for Jefferson Hospital and Meal on Wheels and was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela. His greatest love, though, were his 17 grandchildren, to whom he sent a card every month for over 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Savarino DeHosse Coughlin, with whom he celebrated sixteen years of marriage on May 14, 2021; his children, James Coughlin Jr. and wife Gail, Beth Turley and husband Tom, Chip Coughlin and wife Katherine, Mark Coughlin and wife Angie, Mary Moutsos and husband Perry; his stepchildren, Michael DeHosse and wife Deb of Bentleyville, Mary Radic and husband Rick of Monongahela, Jennifer Brown and Eric DeHosse, both of Finleyville; sister, Mary Searle; seventeen grandchildren, Katelyn, Kayla, Rebeka, Frank, Chris, Alex, Matt, Rosie, Katey, Jennifer, Allison, Kyle, Gabrielle, Drew, Aubrey, Nicholas and James; nine stepgrandchildren, Katie, Emily, Brittney, Natalie, Eleni, Hilary, Erin, Austin and Paige. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemarie Miano Coughlin; sister, Ellen Woodruff; and stepson-in-law, David Brown. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2021, at FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, where a blessing service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev.
