William A. Gelder Jr., 69, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully in his own home on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, with his family by his side. Born in North Charleroi on Jan. 8, 1952, Bill is the son of the late William and Lois Hartman Gelder Sr. of Charleroi. Beloved friend and husband of Judy Miller Gelder, they married Dec. 2, 1977, and graduated together from Charleroi Area High School in 1970. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his son, Jason and daughter-in-law Amanda, of Monongahela; grandchildren, Jacob and Addilyn; and his black lab, Ben. Bill is also survived by his sister, Judy (Gelder) Zolak, widow of Eugene Zolak; nieces, Jennifer (Jeff Foor), Jill (Ken Gallante and family); along with his brother-in-law, Mike Miller. Bill worked at the Tube Mill at Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in Allenport. At age 39, multiple sclerosis took charge of his mobility. We “did it” with God’s help and all friends, family and Amedisys Hospice, Monongahela, nurses, aides, social workers, clergy; and our extended family. Friends and family will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock- Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022, Kirk Russell Melenyzer, funeral director.
