Joseph William Sambol, 84, o f175 Raintree Blvd, Bridgeport, W.Va., died Oct. 27, 2021, at United Hospital Center, with his family at his side. He was born in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dolores “Dorry” Milkent Sambol; and his three children, Joseph “Joey” Sambol, Steve (Debbie) Sambol and Linda (Tim) Bigler; he is also survived by four grandchildren, Luke Sambol, Alex Thorne, Shane Sambol and Megan (Ben) Griffith; with his first great-grandson due spring of 2022. Lastly, Joe is survived by two sisters-in-law, Emily Adams of New Eagle and Marlene Milkent of Hattiesburg, Miss. He was a platoon sergeant in the U.S. Army. He was a leader, having served as president of the Men’s Bowling Association, president of the board of Family Services and president of the Clarksburg Senior Center Board. He loved, bowling, fishing, reading, hunting and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was employed at the Summit Center as a social worker for 23 years. We will be making a donation to Shepherd’s Corner in his memory. If unable to attend the visitation, donations can be made directly to Shepherd’s Corner, 19 Pennsylvania Ave, Bridgeport, WV 26330. Visitors will be received from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at BURNSIDE FUNERAL HOME, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport W.Va. A military memorial service will be held at a later date.
