Warriors still expect to compete in tough section

Elizabeth Forward coach Lindsay Lesofsky’s return to the Warriors brought another successful season on the court last season.
EF (11-4, 10-3) once again made the postseason and won a pigtail game before bowing out in the first round. The expectations are the same, albeit without some key pieces Elizabeth Forward has lost to graduation.
One of those losses include Kaitlin Fournier, who has taken her talents with her to the University of Georgia. Sarah McCall, who is now playing at West Virginia Wesleyan, Gianna Tour and Bri Sersevic have also graduated.
However, the cupboard is not bare at EF and despite these losses, Lesofsky believes her team can still compete at the top of Section 3-3A.
“We will need to rely on full team effort, tough defense and be smart offensively,” Lesofsky said. “We graduated a core group of seniors, which included Fournier as our main offensive threat. We are slightly undersized in the front row in some positions so we have to be smart with our shots on offense.
“Obviously you want to see your team succeed, whether it is a small success of achieving a personal or team goal or a section title, making it into the postseason and/or making a run into states.”
While a mix of returning players and newcomers will lead the Warriors into 2021, no spot is set in their lineup. It is something that Lesofsky does every season.
“Each year we start with a clean slate and expect the players to earn their positions,” she said. “We are still trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together.”
