Sidney John Cicchini, 84, of Rostraver Township and formerly of Clairton, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, in McMurray Hills Manor. Born June 22, 1937, in Clairton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna Harchar Cicchini. A veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War, Sid was a member of the Class of 1955 of Clairton High School and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, earning a degree in economics and also received a teaching degree from California University of Pennsylvania. He began teaching mathematics at Thomas Jefferson High School and then spent 20 years at U.S. Steel’s Clairton Works in various management positions, finishing in labor relations. After early retirement, he began a career in real estate acquisition, development and construction, specializing in single-family homes and patio homes in Rostraver Township and nearby communities. Sid was also a member of the Church of St. Anne, where he was a longtime member of the finance committee, a Eucharistic minister, lector and adult server. In his spare time, he enjoyed quality time with all the neighbors on Jamie Drive and his many good friends from the Clairton High School, Class of 1955, who remained close to him for over 65 years. Sid was also a dedicated fan of the Pitt Panthers and a season ticket holder of the Pittsburgh Steelers for many years and attended three Super Bowls. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, JoAnn Huschak Cicchini; was the proud father of his four sons, Dr. Joseph M. (Melissa) Cicchini of Canonsburg, Dr. John M. (Dr. LoriAnn) Cicchini of Peters Township, James M. Cicchini of Austin, Texas, and Jeffrey M. (Jennifer) Cicchini of Baldwin; was a proud and loving grandpap of his six grandsons, Dr. Alec, Zachary, Tanner, Nathan, Addison and Brady Cicchini and one granddaughter, Sydney Marie Cicchini; his dear sister and brother-in-law, Claire and Anthony Monios of Rostraver Township; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary E. Huschak and Paul LeDonne of Elizabeth; and numerous and loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Sid was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Huschak. Friends will be received at A.J. BEKAVAC FUNERAL HOME, Clairton, from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Anne Parish, 1870 Rostraver Road, Rostraver Township, PA 15012 at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, with Father David Nazimek officiating. Everyone attending the Mass should go directly to the church. Sid’s family would like to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff at McMurray Hills Manor and OSPTA staff nurses for their excellent and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sid’s name should be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 600 Waterfront Dr. #210, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 or Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W.
