Edward J. Kearns, 86, of Donora, passed away on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021, at Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born in Donora on March 21, 1935, a son of the late John and Mary Smucz Kearns. Catholic by faith, Mr. Kearns was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. He was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army and was a 1954 graduate of Donora High School. Mr. Kearns retired as vice president of operations from Wetterau Inc. in 1994. Prior to that, he was director of operations for Fox Grocery Company in Belle Vernon. He was a member of the board of trustees for the Southwestern Pennsylvania and Western Maryland area teamsters and employers pension fund for many years up until the time of his death. In his retirement, he enjoyed golfing, gardening, fixing things, but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. Edward and his wife loved traveling and spending time in Myrtle Beach with their family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Trudie Ann Supp Kearns, on June 7, 2019; a sister, Marie Valosen; and three brothers, John Kearns Jr., Carl Kearns and Casmer Kearns. Surviving to cherish his memory are two daughters, Cheryl (David Anielewski) Maise and Cindy (Scott) McClintock, both of Rostraver Township; a son, Edward Jr. (Judy) Kearns of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Justin (Carey) McClintock, Scott (Krystal) McClintock, Briana (Michael) Jurcevich, Tom (Amanda) Maise Jr., Nick Maise, Ashley (Matthew) Sutton and Stephen Kearns; nine great-grandchildren, Grace, Scott, Beau, Mila, Cora, Logan, Kaley, Annie and Harrison; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Kataira, Kaylx and Savvy; a brother-in-law, Ralph Veschio of Donora; a sister-in-law, Dolores Supp of Pittsburgh; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted fur buddy, Toby. Mr. Kearns’ daughters would like to thank Amedisys Home Care for their kind support in carrying out his wishes to remain in his home these last two years. Private family visitation and funeral services were held for Mr. Kearns on Thursday, Aug. 12, 2021. Interment took place at Mon Valley Memorial Park in Donora with full military honors that were accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad. Arrangements have been entrusted to ANTHONY L.
