Farmers routs Howard Hanna

Howard Hanna Wilson Baum was in control early Tuesday night against Farmers Insurance. An early run fueled their offense, giving Howard Hanna a nine-point lead after six minutes of the second game of a Mon Valley Independent Summer Basketball League tripleheader.

About five minutes later though, a Farmers player had arguably the greatest hot streak the season has seen. From there on, it was history.

Daniel Gordon scored 15 of his team’s next 19 points, which included 10 in a row with three triples and a snazzy reverse layup. The run helped power Farmers Insurance (3-4) to a 94-76 victory over Howard Hanna Wilson Baum.

The “Cheeks” Gordon show continued into the second half as the Belle Vernon senior led his team with 26 points. Leopards teammate Devin Whitlock didn’t fare too bad either with 25 points and 10 rebounds ,while Ringgold’s Nick Peccon came one rebound from a double-double while scoring 20.

Farmers has struggled all season getting more than five players to show up for a game. The seven players they had Tuesday more than enough.

“When we play as a team, we’re as good as any team in the league,” head coach Dana Zajicek said. “Tonight we shared the ball and got people involved. I think we also did a really good job defensively.”
