The Plum Street Saturday Morning Market resumes this week in downtown Elizabeth.
The market will be held the second and fourth Saturday of the month through August from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
“We’ve had really great turnouts and the weather has been cooperating,” organizer Stephanie Ziacan said of the Elizabeth Area Development Corporation, which is sponsoring the markets.
Ziacan said the market isn’t actually a farmers market, though there are fresh eggs available and some vendors may have fresh produce now that gardens are starting to grow.
“It’s just a Saturday morning market. The majority of participants are crafters. Everything is handmade,” Ziacan said.
Among the handmade items for sale are greeting cards, jewelry, crocheted and sewn items, personalized and decorative wooden signs and hand-crafted wooden flower bouquets. One woman sets up plants for sale.
“We have some fresh eggs, homemade bread and baked items,” Ziacan said. “Transfiguration Church is participating this week with homemade pierogies, and the proceeds will benefit the diaper pantry to help mothers. They’ll accept donations of packages of diapers as well. The Liquid Vibes Coffee Truck comes every week.”
