Eugene E. Foglia, 87, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, June 2, 2021, in Monon-gahela Valley Hospital. Born Dec. 22, 1933, in Charle- roi, he was the son of Frank and Carmela Troiano Foglia. After his graduation from Charleroi High School in 1951, Eugene served in the U.S. Army for the next three years during the Korean War. He retired in 1996 after working 30 years as a hot car operator at U.S. Steel Clairton Works. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela and the American Legion Post 949 in Carroll Township, Eugene was always proud of his homegrown tomatoes in the summertime. A Penguins season ticket holder since 1985, he was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and always enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. Surviving are his wife, Carole Namie Foglia, whom he married June 11, 1960; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lisa Foglia of Victory Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Edsel Burkholder of Monongahela; a brother, Albert “Cooky” and wife Phyllis Foglia of Monessen; four grandchildren, Eric and Jacob Foglia and Sophie and Shane Burkholder; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his two brothers, Joseph and Norman Foglia; and two sisters, Helen Bosh and Eleanor Stanish. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 6. Funeral prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2021, followed by a Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 722 West Main St., Monongahela. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
