A pair of five-run innings sunk Yough softball in the regular season finale versus West Mifflin. The Titans earned a first round bye in the playoffs and will head into the postseason coming off the 14-2 victory.

Emily Buchleitner hit an RBI single in the first and the Titans threatened with the bases loaded, before Cougars pitcher Emma Augustine struck out three consecutive batters to close the inning.

Yough evened things up in the bottom of the first. Kaylyn Odelli hit a leadoff single and eventually scored on an error, knotting the game 1-1.

But West Mifflin took control for good in the third inning, scoring five runs to take the 6-1 lead. Allyssa Schmidt and Abigail Farmer each drove in a run, Addie Hilligsberg walked in a run and Lauren Yuhas doubled in a pair.

The Titans scored three more runs in the next two innings, adding to their lead, before Yough put another notch on the board. Odelli hit her way on in the bottom of the fifth and scored to make it a 9-2 game.

The heart of the order delivered for West Mifflin once again in the top of the sixth, sending five more runs across the plate to bring the game to an early close when Hilligsberg sat Yough down in order, ending with her eleventh strikeout of the contest. Hilligsberg allowed just two runs on three hits, walking three.
