State, local COVID-19 numbers rising again

The week ended with a jump in new COVID-19 cases both statewide and in local counties.
Westmoreland County added 123 new cases, which is the most in a single day since January.
Allegheny County’s 346 new cases on Friday is the highest influx in the past 10 days, and it raises the seven-day average to a peak last reached at the beginning of the month.
Statewide, there were 3,455 new cases reported for a total of 980,302, and 35 additional fatalities, bringing that total to 24,741.
A little more than 24% of residents across the state have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.
There are 2,614,522 partially vaccinated Pennsylvania residents and 1,428,876 are fully vaccinated.
That represents an increase of 309,869 over last week’s total of fully vaccinated Pennsylvanians.
There are 1,548 COVID patients hospitalized, with of 317 in an ICU and 170 on ventilators. There are 728 remaining ICU beds available statewide.
In Allegheny County, there have now been 81,287 cases and 1,777 deaths, which is an increase of three, according to the state Department of Health. Allegheny County Health Department reported no new deaths Friday.
There are 146 patients hospitalized in Allegheny County, 33 of whom are in an ICU. Of those, 18 are on ventilators. There are 75 ICU beds available in the county.
There have been 175,733 partially vaccinated, and 161,249 residents have been fully vaccinated.
