New Eagle Council members heard complaints earlier this week from a resident who says local businesses routinely violate local and state environmental ordinances.
At council’s meeting Tuesday night, Bill Tatar told officials Ave and Belle Estates mobile home park at 135 Union St., and Downfall Demolition LLC at 146 Chess St., continue to ignore warnings and citations from police and fire departments.
According to Tatar, Downfall Demolition LLC burns illegal, toxic materials throughout the day and night, has piles of scrap items on the property and lets oil spill onto the road.
“Somebody’s got to do something,” Tatar told council. “Believe me, you can’t see for three or four blocks. I’ve talked to (police Chief Kevin Harris) about it already, too.”
According to Monongahela police Sgt. Ryan Lenzi, the business has been cited twice recently for ordinance violations.
