Just four weeks after students returned to campus in a limited manner, California University of Pennsylvania has announced plans to open completely for in-person classes for the fall 2021 semester.
Interim President Robert Thorn made the announcement Thursday.
“Cal U is planning to ‘level up’ and return to full on-campus operations this fall,” Thorn said in an email to Cal U students, faculty and staff.
Thorn said the decision was made based on the strong start to the spring semester. At present, about 50% of classes are being offered on campus, with students having the option to attend in person or through real-time remote learning technology. The remainder of the classes are offered either through remote learning or online.
Vice President for Communications and Marketing Christine Kindl said this is the time of year when prospective students and their parents are looking at their fall options.
“A number of other schools have made that announcement recently, and we know that prospective students and their families are deeply involved in selecting their school for the fall,” Kindl said.
