White Oak first responders were called to a stretch of Route 48 Saturday night after rocks and debris slid onto the busy thoroughfare.

The debris fell onto Long Run Road (Route 48) between Cool Springs and Ripple roads — a busy stretch of road that connects Jack’s Run Road (Route 48) and the North Versailles Township Route 30 corridor and Lincoln Way — White Oak’s main road — to state Route 130 (Walnut Street) in McKeesport and Versailles Borough.

“We received a third-party report of some debris that slid off the hillside yesterday evening along the southbound lane of Long Run Road past Cool Springs Road,” said Josh Gelman, co-deputy emergency management director of White Oak Borough Office of Emergency Management. “We received no reports of injuries and there are no current road restrictions.”

“I just drove through the area and all lanes are clear,” Gelman said around 12:30 Sunday afternoon, adding that Long Run Road is maintained by PennDOT and that any further information would need to come from PennDOT District 11.

In an email to the Mon Valley Independent Sunday morning, District 11 spokesman Steve Cowan said he was looking into the incident, but did not provide further information.
