After a slow start, the Frazier girls basketball team had a solid second quarter and took a one-point lead into halftime.
Despite the strong stanza, the Commodores couldn’t muster the same punch in the second half and were outscored 25-8 in a 36-20 setback to Carmichaels Friday in Section 2-2A action.
“It has definitely been an unorthodox season for us,” Frazier coach Winston Shaulis said. “Any given week you can play four or five games in a row, but then some weeks you are lucky if you can get one in. You always have to be ready for what is thrown at you.”
With the loss, the Commodores (2-10, 0-4) losing streak goes to four games. Frazier was without two senior starters for the game in Kaelyn and Kendall Shaporka.
The Mikes (2-4, 2-1) picked up the win despite playing in their first game since Jan. 25.
“I was not surprised by our effort tonight after the layoff,” Carmichaels coach Chelsea Ulery said. “We had some good practices this week and I think we fed off the emotions of senior night. Everyone contributed tonight and we played a really good team game.”
