Stephen J. ‘Bud’ Columbus – New Eagle

Stephen J. “Bud” Columbus, 88, of New Eagle, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021. He was born in Monongahela, March 21, 1932, the son of the late Stephen and Mary Todd Columbus. Stephen worked at Monongahela Ford as a parts manager and at Davies & Tregembo Ford in Charleroi as a car and snowmobile salesman. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, as he also used to race cars back in the 1950s. He enjoyed watching college football, playing euchre, hunting, golfing, bowling, being outdoors and was active in a senior softball league in Ocala, Fla. He is survived by his grandson, Jacob Columbus, of California, Pa.; daughter-in-law, Kathi Columbus, of Eighty-Four; sister-in-law, Hannah Jane Columbus of Bethel Park; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Stephen and Robert Columbus; brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Columbus and Russell Columbus; sister, Eleanor (Lin) Dalton; longtime companion, Dolores Cheroki of Monessen; and former wife, Catherine Steinmetz. There is no visitation. Arrangements are by GILBERT FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY INC., 6028 Smithfield St., Boston, 412-751-5000, Drew J. Gilbert, director.
