Florence M. Stimak, 92, of Monessen, died Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, in Hallsworth House. She was born on Nov. 12, 1928, in Monessen, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Veronica Molasky Handres. Florence was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Church and its Epiphany Ladies. She was also a member of the former St. Cajetan Rosary Altar Society and Friends of Monessen Public Library. Florence enjoyed volunteering and was always helping out in any way she could. She was known as the “ticket lady,” helping many organizations raise money through ticket raffles. She was a selfless person, more concerned about others than herself. She played cards with her card club friends and was a very good baker of pizzelles and nut rolls. Florence worked at home as a seamstress and at election time worked at the former Monessen High School precinct polling site. Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Valeria “Tootsie” Stefanick of Wellington, Ohio, and Eleanor J. (John) McDonough of Fairhope; son, John C. (Florencia) Stimak of Rostraver Township; granddaughter, Erin Michelle (Michael) Ferguson of Elizabeth; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Ferguson; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Stimak; a brother, Anthony Handres; and a sister, Eleanor Ravenhill. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, beginning with a 9 a.m. blessing in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. funeral Mass at Epiphany of Our Lord Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd., Monessen, with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Donora. Everyone attending the visitation and services must wear a face mask and social distance. Only 25 people at a time are permitted inside the funeral home. Condolences accepted for the family at www.dalfonso-billick.com.
