Mabel E. Doty Anctil, 106, of New Eagle, passed away Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, at Dunlevy Manor, Dunlevy. Yes, Mabel was 106! She was of sound mind and body until the end of her good, long life. Mabel moved from her home in New Eagle to the John Lignelli Manor when she was 99. She spent her years past 100 enjoying time and a cup of tea with friends in her cozy apartment there. Mabel had a fantastic work ethic, was an excellent homemaker, cook and baker, liked to laugh and was deeply loved by family and friends for being an intelligent, generous and caring person. Born June 27, 1914, in Monessen, she was the daughter of Joseph and Susie Valiani Doty. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, Mabel worked for over 28 years as cook at Angelo’s Restaurant in Monongahela until her retirement in 1999. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Sue and John Panko of New Eagle; three grandsons, Gary (Georgeann) Baumgardner of Pawley’s Island, S.C., Kenny (Bev) Baumgardner of Monongahela and Brian (Lisa) Albenze of Fairfield, Conn.; five great-granddaughters, Kristy (Mike) Guappone of Charleroi, Rachel (Tony) Cecchini of Collegeville, Pa., Autumn (Mike) Harrison of Monongahela, and Olivia and Rachel Albenze of Fairfield, Conn.; five great-great-granddaughters; a daughter-in-law, Fran Baumgardner of New Eagle; one surviving sister-in-law, Gloria Doty of the North Hills; and beloved nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death were her first husband, William Baumgardner; her second husband, Andrew Anctil, who passed away in 1979; her son, William Baumgardner Jr., who passed away in 1998; her five brothers, Arthur, William, Charles, George and Albert Doty; and a sister, Bertha Tihansky. A private family viewing and funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767. Interment was in Monongahela Cemetery.
