Rose Marie Kerr, 97, of Rostraver Township, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2020, in The Residence at Hilltop. Born in Rostraver Township on Sept. 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Rose Richie Yost. Rose Marie was a 1941 graduate of Rostraver High School and was a secretary for Pages Steel Mill. On July 3, 1948, she married John F. “Jack” Kerr and together they celebrated 70 years of marriage until his death March 1, 2019. She was an active member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver and was a member of Thomas McKee American Legion Post 28 Monessen for over 60 years. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards and was an excellent cook. She honorably served her country with the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II. She is survived by her son, John Kerr (Lee Fleming) of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Kim Kerr Gilbert (John Kavulick) of Rostraver; nieces, Cheryl Myers of Florida, Pat Yost (Martha Jacobs) of Yonkers, N.Y., and Karen (Eric) Winter of Derry; nephews, Russ (Diane) Yost of Eighty Four and Jim (Cindy) Armstrong of Massachusetts; and cousins, Dennis (Bernadette) Lynch of Ephrata and Eugene (Susan) Beyer of Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Russell LeeRoy Yost; and sister, Betty J. McCauley. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at the JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com. FAMILY AND FRIENDS ARE ASKED TO MEET at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, in the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver, for a Funeral Mass with the Rev. David J. Nazimek presiding. Interment with military honors, will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Everyone attending the visitation and services must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Only 10 people are permitted in the funeral home at a time.
