Football players from California, Charleroi, Frazier and Monessen were recognized by their respective conferences earlier this month.

The Trojans had nine players selected to the Class A Tri-County South all-conference team, including Jaeden Zuzak, who finished his senior season at Cal as one of the WPIAL’s leading rushers.

Zuzak, a 5-10, 206-pound running back who also played defensive back, rushed for 1,571 yards and 28 touchdowns. He was joined by junior running back/linebacker Ethan Fike, senior wide receiver/linebacker Anthony Haschets, senior wide receiver/defensive back Nathan O’Savage, sophomore offensive and defensive lineman Tanner Pierce, senior wide receiver/defensive back Kwondre Porter, senior offensive lineman and defensive end Seth Rerricha, junior quarterback/defensive end Damani Stafford and senior tight end/linebacker Matt Trunzo.

California head coach Ed Woods was also recognized as the conference’s coach of the year. Woods led the Trojans to a 6-1 overall mark and a 6-0 record in conference play. Cal’s season came to an end with a 28-21 WPIAL quarterfinal loss against Shenango.

Monessen was represented by junior wide receiver/linebacker Dayton Carson and freshman quarterback Shane Swope Jr.
