As Elizabeth Forward students return to school today, they won’t be going back to their classrooms.
The district will be fully remote for at least the remainder of next week, according to district Superintendent Dr. Todd Keruskin.
“In just the last couple of days we’ve dealt with a lot of staff and student issues,” Keruskin said, “so we’re hitting a nine-day pause and will be back in school Dec. 14.”
The current plan is to have elementary students in school five days a week, with middle school and high school students returning to a hybrid schedule of two days in class and three days virtual.
“One thing we’ve learned with COVID is it’s hard to predict,” Keruskin said.
He added that he’s proud of the way the district has handled the pandemic.
“Our goal is to keep school open. We made it through 59 days of school,” Keruskin said. “A huge shout out to our nurses and our principals. They’ve really been staying on top of this.”
