Carnegie Library of McKeesport and its branches are operating under “a fully contact-less service model” as a result of recent spikes in COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County and the county’s recent “stay-at-home advisory.”
“There will be no public PC (computer) use or browsing until further notice,” the library said in a statement. “We apologize for any inconvenience.”
In addition to the historic Carnegie Free Library of McKeesport on Library Street in the city’s Cultural and Education District, the library operates branches in Duquesne and White Oak.
Since patrons can’t enter the library, the staff in McKeesport is offering contactless pick-up and drop-off for library materials. Patrons are asked to call 412-672-0625 to schedule a time to pick up holds. Materials being dropped off can be placed in the designated bins in the McKeesport library vestibule during regular business hours (8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays).
Patrons who need to get on the internet can access the library’s Wi-Fi connection from outside the building by using their personal electronic devices. With a valid library card, patrons can access online digital resources such as books, audio books and music, films and research databases.
