Andrew J. Macko, 72, of Deland, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020. Born on Jan. 18, 1948, he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen Stankovich Macko of Monessen. Andy was a graduate of Monessen High School in 1965 and the University of Maryland. Prior to moving to Florida in 2014, he and his wife resided in Severna Park, Md. He was employed as a systems analyst for Northrup Grumman in Hanover, Md. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jacqueline Peterson Macko; son, Kenneth (Kara) Macko; and grandchildren, Mariah and Madeline Macko of Forest Hill, Md.; sisters, Rose (Joseph) Falbo of Charleroi, Carole Macko and Andrea Macko of Monessen; nieces, Nicole Falbo of Pittsburgh; Melissa (Thomas) Zupan of Monessen; great-nephew, Thomas Zupan of Monessen; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Dave) Peterson Miller, Patricia (Bill) Peterson Grose and Jeanie Peterson Bennett; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Donald and Donna MacPherson Peterson; and brothers-in-law, Wallace Brown and Albert Hudspith. After his retirement in 1998, he enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing. A memorial service will be held in Forest Hill, Md., in the spring of 2021.
