David A. Sala, 56, of Monongahela, died unexpectedly Monday, Nov. 9, 2020. Born Nov. 18, 1963, in New Eagle, he was the son of the late Alexander and Betty Wheatley Sala. A 1982 graduate of Ringgold High School, Dave had been employed for the last 17 years as a tanker driver for Sheetz CLI in Neville Island and previously as a driver for Super Value in Belle Vernon. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, Dave loved riding his Harley and was looking forward to planning his second trip to Sturgis, S.D., with his wife Karen. Dave was meticulous when it came to taking care of his cars, bikes and his yard. He always prided himself on helping others, especially his friends and family. Surviving are his wife, Karen (Dierkens Pharmacy) Turtzer Sala, whom he would have celebrated his 31st anniversary with on Nov. 25; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa (David) Massare Nanz of New Eagle; three brothers, Joseph (Jackie) Sala of West Mifflin, William (Eva) Sala of Monongahela and Donald (Nikki) Sala of Charleroi; five sisters, Sharon Dejeet and Maryann Schottenheimer of New Eagle, Judie (Bill) Bloom of McKeesport, Pamela (Don) Knight of Elizabeth and Theresa (Joe) Alvarez of Monongahela; his mother-in-law, Jul Turtzer of Monongahela; his dogs, Rosie and Posie and cats, Abbie and Gabbie; along with his numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester Sala. Friends will be received at Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov.12. Funeral prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home Friday, Nov. 13, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial that will be celebrated in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 722 West Main St., Monongahela. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township. Guests are asked to please abide by personal protective guidelines and social distancing. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Washington Area Humane Society.
