Kathleen ‘Kathie’ Lofink Schoemig – formerly of Belle Vernon

Kathleen Lofink Schoemig, 77, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2020, at her home in Mesa, Ariz. She was born June 6, 1943, in Charleroi, to the late Thomas James Lofink Sr. who passed July 12, 1991, and Sophia Kathryn Deluga Lofink who passed July 30, 1998, of Belle Vernon. Kathie was a 1961 graduate of Bellmar High School in Belle Vernon. Following graduation, she earned a certificate in secretarial studies. She worked as a bookkeeper and volunteered her time as a CCD teacher at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in McKees Rocks. She moved to Arizona in 1992 where she started her own commercial and residential cleaning business and volunteered her time at various hospitals and retirement homes with her certified pet therapy dogs. She was a former chaplain for the American Legion Women’s Auxilliary Post 39 in Gilbert, Ariz., current member of the American Legion Women’s Auxilliary Post 26 in Mesa, Ariz. and life member of the VFW Ladies Auxilliary Post 1760 in Mesa, Ariz. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, arts and crafts and contributing her talents to various causes supporting veterans. Kathie is survived by her daughter Marlene Falise (Jurgen Segaert) of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandson, Ian M. Segaert; daughter, DeAnne Falise of Chandler, Ariz.; sister, Marlene Lofink Updegraff of Florida; brother, William Joseph Lofink of Florida; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and partner of over 20 years, Thomas M. Schoemig on Aug. 9, 2011; and her brothers, Thomas James Lofink Jr. on July 4, 1998 and Robert Peter Lofink on Aug. 19, 1990. Kathie requested an intimate graveside burial at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, Ariz. Arrangements handled by Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Mesa, Ariz.
