First-year head coach Jess Britt sees a great deal of individual talent on her California soccer squad, but the former Trojan wants to see her team put it all together when it hits the field this upcoming season.
Britt, who never played soccer in high school, but was on the softball team at California, will technically be coaching the boys squad, but the team is co-ed.
“I have been coaching rec soccer for 10 years now,” Britt said. ”When my kids moved in the middle school, I got the middle school job. When this job became available, I went for it. I coached these kids for years, and I have a lot of parental support.
“If anybody watched the team last year, the kids can play, that was no doubt. It was putting it together. I always thought, as a coach, that was one of the things I was always good at because I never did play. If you think you can go out there by yourself and play 11 other people, it is not going to happen.”
