Ringgold High School graduate Larry Price lives across the country, but he hasn’t forgotten about his Mon Valley roots.
Price, who’s called the state of California home for more than 30 years and owns the music and sports clothing line CaliGold, recently donated hundreds of face masks to Mon Valley communities, proving that you can take the man out of the Valley, but you can’t take the Valley out of the man.
“I’ve always been proud to be from Donora,” Price said from his Sacramento residence. “To me it’s still home, and if I can do my part, then I’m going to do what I have to do.”
Price, part of Ringgold’s Class of 1981, donated 200 CaliGold face masks to his alma mater’s teachers, as well as 100 masks to Chub’s Pub in Donora, 20 to the Donora Police Department, 20 to Duke’s Cafe in Donora and 20 to the Charleroi Regional Police Department as well as others.
“We’re sincerely grateful for his generosity,” said Ringgold School Board President William Stein. “He’s everything you’d want a graduate to be. The masks he donated will help us immensely. Any little bit helps the whole scenario, and it’s scary what’s going on in the world. We’re grateful he remembered the folks back in the Mon Valley.”
“Once the COVID hit, I figured they would need masks for the school year,” Price said. “My idea was to look at the local establishments to see what they needed. I’m starting to get a lot of interest from the students and parents who want masks in youth sizes just in case they have to go back (to classes).”
