In order to compete with a high caliber team such as Mt. Lebanon, Belle Vernon coach Tony Watson knew he had to see his bunch limit the mistakes Wednesday night.
Aside from a baserunning gaffe and a few missed opportunities on offense, Leopard Nation limited their defensive miscues to two errors and made Mt. Lebo use the sticks.
Unfortunately, though, for the guys in green and gold, Lebo found a way to bash in bunches, compiling 11 hits en route to an 8-2 victory over Belle Vernon in Western Pennsylvania Summer Baseball League play at the DiVirgilio Sports Complex in Rostraver Township.
“The bats came alive and they had one or two big innings, but that’s why we’re scheduling games against 6A schools, to get better,” Watson said. “The kids got to see what it’s like to play in that world.”
