Falcons Fast Pitch used a big first inning effort to capture a 9-0 two-inning victory over Cal Impulse Tuesday in Mon Valley Independent Senior Swing softball tournament play in Washington Township.
Falcons FP (2-1) scored six runs in the first inning and three more in the second before lightning halted play prior to the start of the third inning. Inclement weather wound up ending the game after two frames, allowing Falcons FP to secure the No. 2 seed out of the blue division heading into bracket play beginning today.
“I like how they attacked the ball,” Falcons FP coach Jane Bock said. “They came out swinging and were eager to get back on the field and play ball.”
Bock’s squad wasted little time getting on the board as Claire Zelner led things off with a single into left field. One batter later, Payton Hall blasted a two-run home run to put Falcons FP up 2-0.
“That was a spark that ignited our offense,” Bock said.
