Fell Street property draws complaints

A group of North Belle Vernon residents led by Bill Sterner of Fell Street asked council Tuesday to force a neighbor to clean up a residential property that has allegedly been an eyesore and a public safety hazard for more than 25 years.

Sterner said the yard of the home on the 400 block of Fell Street is overgrown and filled with around a dozen junk cars. The porch is allegedly covered in old newspapers and other debris and emanates a mildew smell.

“We have lost count (of how many cars are on the property) because some of them are so covered up with the brush that has grown up there,” Sterner said.

He said the man who owns the home, who was only identified as Mr. Miller, also has about five cars that are partially parked on the road and are “loaded with garbage up to the ceiling.”

“We have rodent problems there,” Sterner said.
