A McKeesport man has been denied bail after allegedly breaking into another man’s apartment, stabbing him multiple times and stealing $400, which police said he later used to purchase drugs.

The victim was identified as 57-year-old Gordon Danielson Jr. by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

McKeesport police found Danielson dead inside his apartment at 523 Sinclair St. in McKeesport around 6:05 p.m. Sunday, according to Allegheny County Police Department Sgt. Michael Caruso, who said the victim suffered multiple stab wounds.

Detectives from the ACPD Homicide Unit and scientists from the Allegheny County Crime Lab initiated an investigation shortly after McKeesport police requested assistance, according to Caruso, who said the body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for a post-mortem examination.

Jeffrey Leisten, 52, turned himself in to Pittsburgh police late Sunday night. He allegedly admitted stabbing the victim multiple times with a knife, Caruso said, adding that Leisten was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a knife.

Leisten told homicide detectives that he took $400 from the victim’s apartment and purchased narcotics, according to Caruso.
