While the Donald Asmonga Foundation’s largest fundraiser has been canceled this year due to the coronavirus, the organizations mission will still be accomplished.

On April 19, the foundation announced the cancellation of the annual Donald Asmonga Foundation Golf Tournament scheduled for this summer at Cedarbrook Golf Course, which brings in thousands of dollars to support Belle Vernon Area student athletes.

Board of Directors chair Nancy Asmonga Colleton announced the foundation will still award scholarships to BVA student athletes this month.
The sixth annual event will now be held in July of 2021. Colleton said the board didn’t take the decision to cancel the event lightly.

“We had a lot of momentum that we’ve built up over the last five years and the tournament has turned into a major reunion, so we as much as anyone, will miss seeing our friends and family this year,” Colleton said. “We discussed the cancellation first with the golf committee with input from key supporters.”
