By obits

Mary Ann Toth, 79, of Belle Vernon, was called home by the Lord to be with her beloved Tommy on Saturday, May 9, 2020, in UPMC Mercy Hospital. A daughter of the late John and Helen Spernak Guzanick, she was born in Pittsburgh on April 20, 1941. A resident of Belle Vernon for most of her adult life, she was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and had been active in several area social organizations. She and her late husband were the owners and operators of the former Charleroi I.G.A. Mary Ann had worked for many years at the Belle Vernon Fashion Bug store. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Monica Brannon of Pittsburgh and Lori and Steve Gargasz of Hermitage. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Tommy Gargasz and Sophia Gargasz, both of Hermitage, whom she adored and loved with her whole heart and they loved her “to the moon and back.” In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Thomas ‘‘Tommy” Toth; and her uncle and aunt, Richard and Mary Spernak Brady, who raised Mary Ann since age 10. She will be missed by everyone who knew her. Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, a private service and funeral Mass will be in St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston as celebrant. Burial will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300. www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com.
