Robert Walter Kapty, 77, of Monessen, known to many as “Kupty,” passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020, in his home. He was born in Monessen, son of the late Walter and Catherine Barch Kapty. Kupty was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church of Monessen. He was also a member of the Monessen Eagles, Allenport Rod and Gun Club, Monessen Fireman’s Club and the Fraternal Order of Police. Although Kupty was of Polish descent, he adopted his wife’s Italian heritage and mastered the art of making sopressata, sausage, wine and ravioli. He worked as a police officer for the City of Monessen for many years prior to his retirement. Surviving are his wife, Mary “Babe” (Gigliotti) Kapty; son, Robert “Bert” and wife SueEllen Kapty of Carroll Township; daughter, Laura Ann Farmer of Monessen; grandson, Corey A. Farmer and fiancée Robyn Slivka of Scott Township; granddaughter, Alessandra Kapty of Donora; grandson, Nicholas Kapty of Scott Township; grandson, Luke A. Farmer of Monessen; great-grandsons, Isaiah, Dominic and Liam; and a sister, Kathy Dacko of Perryopolis. Due to the limitations in place with social distancing, private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen.
