Starting to miss some things

Today marks a couple of firsts for the Mon Valley Independent sports department. If you take a slight glance to the right, you’ll see our first “Senior Day Spotlight” featuring South Allegheny softball’s Madison Taylor.

When we asked for submissions as a way to recognize spring sport athletes whose seasons are in limbo right now, we had no idea we’d get the response we did. As of now, the plan is to run one profile a day due to limited space constraints. We’re running them as close to the order they were received as possible, trying to avoid two profiles of the same district back-to-back or things of that nature.

Since our Monday editions are now digital only, we’ll run two profiles on Tuesdays. We want to make sure people wanting the physical copy of the papers are able to get one if their athlete is featured.

Thank you again to all those who have sent us photos and profiles. It’s awesome getting to see the faces we’d normally see daily at the games. Trust me, we all miss you guys!

If you haven’t received a profile template, shoot us an email at sports@yourmvi.com and we’ll get one in your hands.

There’s still a shred of hope after the PIAA’s announcement Monday that winter sports and spring sports are still only postponed. Obviously, the chances grow slimmer with each day, but we’re still holding onto hope.
