Ringgold School Board voted Wednesday night to accept the superintendent’s resignation effective immediately and to name an acting superintendent.
Megan Marie Van Fossan submitted her resignation last week but, according to her contract, expected to work another 60 days at Ringgold.
Instead, the board unanimously voted Wednesday during a virtual online meeting to approve her resignation immediately and to name Randy Skrinjorich, director of operations and financial services, acting superintendent “until further action by the school board.”
The move comes a week after the board made a series of motions that gave Skrinjorich more authority regarding employees and administrators, including the superintendent.
Skrinjorich was given “power and authority to schedule and conduct personnel matters including investigative interviews regarding employee matters and complaints.”
Skrinjorich was also given the authority to assume the duties and authority of superintendent anytime Van Fossan were absent from work or outside the administration building without providing Skrinjorich with written notice.
This is the second time Skrinjorich has been acting superintendent, the first came two years ago after the sudden death of then-superintendent Dr. Karen Polkabla.
