Democratic officials from the state and local level convened in Monessen Saturday to encourage fellow Democrats from the state’s 58th Legislative District to urge their neighbors to vote in both the upcoming special election and the 2020 primary.

Speakers at the rally were Lt. Gov. John Fetterman; Pennsylvania Democratic Committee Chairwoman Nancy Patton Mills; State Rep. Austin Davis, D-McKeesport; special election Democratic-endorsed candidate Robert Prah of Rostraver Township; Bill Marx, who is seeking to take the seat currently held by Republican U.S. Rep. Guy Reschenthaler; Westmoreland County Democratic Committee Chairwoman Tara Yokopenic; and Pennsylvania American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations Secretary Frank Snyder.

The event was standing room only as more than 50 volunteers gathered at the Monessen Italian Society of Mutual Aid before heading into towns such as Monessen and Rostraver Township to knock on the doors of Republicans and Democrats alike and encourage them to vote in the March 17 special election and to get registered in time for the April 28 primary.

The final day to register to vote in time for the 2020 Democratic and Republican primaries is April 13. Pennsylvania residents can learn how to register at www.votespa.com/Register-to-Vote/Pages/How-to-Register-to-Vote.
