It was a night of changes for the Elizabeth borough police force Tuesday as one new officer was sworn in, resignations were accepted for two part-time officers and council voted to dismiss a probationary officer.
New to the force is Matthew Resser who was sworn into office by Mayor Barry Boucher during the meeting. Councilman Tim Guffey said there are plans to hire a second officer, but paperwork for that officer has not yet been completed. No action was taken on the motion, which appeared on the agenda without a name attached.
Council accepted the resignations of patrolmen Ian Malone and Casey Hindman, effective immediately. According to Boucher, the two men were part-time officers who had not been scheduled for many hours lately and both have obtained other employment.
Council also voted to terminate probationary officer Casey Perrotta, who was charged earlier this month with forgery, unsworn falsification to authorities and tampering with public records of information by Allegheny County Police. He allegedly forged mental health evaluation forms for another police officer.
