Oil change business has new name and new owner

After working for years at Duke of Oil in Carroll Township, Gary Koteles has become the owner.

“I’m a lot happier when cars show up,” said Koteles, who began at Duke of Oil in 2007. “I’ve always loved working on cars and customers, but now the satisfaction of owning the business, it’s more exciting. It’s no longer a job.”

Located next to Fisher Heights Giant Eagle, the business has been rebranded as Hoods Up, giving it the same name as a shop run by Koteles’ son, Cody, in Belle Vernon.

Other than the new name, which took effect Feb. 12, it’s more or less business as usual. Longtime worker Nick Kopanic has been promoted to a management role, and Koteles has taken on the responsibility of ownership. The shop now works in conjunction with the Belle Vernon location.
