Art lovers, wine connoisseurs and the just plain curious were on hand at Off the Wall Art Studio Thursday night to show their support for local charity.
The Friends of the Monessen Salvation Army Chair-ity Event drew dozens of people to the Charleroi gallery to support the Salvation Army by bidding on custom-made one-of-a-kind chairs, stools and even footrests donated by local artists and makers.
The event also featured a wine bar, appetizers, silent auction, 50/50 raffle, a wine pull and a peoples’ choice award given at the end of the night to the chair that garnered the most votes from those in attendance.
The evening marked the second time the biannual event took place, and proceeds benefit Salvation Army programs.
“It’s a fun thing to do,” Salvation Army Capt. Sue Thwaite said during a break from mingling with attendees. “It lets people break those winter blues and get out of the house.”
