Forward Township residents want answers about Bunola River Road

Forward Township residents want to know when PennDOT will reopen Bunola River Road, which had been limited to one lane, but was closed entirely Jan. 23.

Residents raised the question at Monday’s township supervisors meeting, but the supervisors had no immediate answer, saying it apparently hinges on when electricity can be hooked up to a traffic signal to regulate the single-lane travel.

Supervisor Ron Skrinjorich said township officials recently met with PennDOT representatives.

“They told us the reason the lights were flashing was because people were running them. It ends up that was wrong. It ends up they only flash when the batteries got down to 10%,” Skrinjorich said. “They won’t even pay for the electric for the lights; we have to pay for it.”
