Residents of a Donora personal care home with a history of violations awakened Tuesday to learn they would have new accommodations after the home was ordered to immediately cease operations by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
Touched by an Angel, located at 789 McKean Ave., was home to 27 residents ranging in age from 43 to 79.
On Tuesday, members of DHS helped organize the residents’ evacuation. Several residents’ belongings were put into garbage bags and placed outside on the front porch.
Next door in administration, employees hurried to clean out the office.
“I’m highly agitated when we get a phone call to shut down,” said an employee who spoke to the Mon Valley Independent on the condition of anonymity.
