The stars will shine Friday night at Ringgold High gymnasium.
The Rams (10-6, 3-3) will play host to Waynesburg Central (7-9, 1-5) in a key Sec. 3 4A contest (tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.). The game will be Ringgold’s Senior Night festivities as Ram senior guard Chris Pecon zeroes in on 1,000 career points. He is 21 points shy of the milestone.
At halftime, the last two basketball teams to win championships will be honored.
The 1990 squad, which won the WPIAL 4A title with a record of 29-3 will be honored, as will the 1995 team which won the PIAA 4A crown and finished 25-6.
Jamont Kinds, a member of the ’95 team put together the honoring of the two teams on their 20th and 25th anniversaries. Kinds said he expects most of the starters from the two teams, as well as reserves and coaching staffs to attend.
“I was talking to Coach (Phil) Pergola before the season and he said it would be nice to get the two teams together on their anniversaries and I went with it,” Kinds said.
Both teams were very unique, as well as talented. The school’s career scoring, rebounding, assists and steals leaders – as well as others ranked in the top five in each category – are represented by the two squads.
