Aggravated assault charges filed after fight in Donora

A Donora man has been charged with aggravated assault after police say he slashed the head and neck of another man with a broken bottle after the two men drank together but later got into a fight.

Antwane Lamar Cunningham, 27, of Donora is charged with two felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count of flight to avoid apprehension, one felony count of criminal trespass, one misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault, one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct engage in fighting, one summary charge of disorderly conduct hazardous offense, one summary charge of harassment subject other to physical contact and one summary charge of public drunkenness after the alleged Jan. 1 incident.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were called to a house in the 700 block of McKean Avenue, where officers were met by several females yelling for officers to hurry into the house because a man was on the steps bleeding badly from being stabbed.

Officers found Louis Welsh laying on the steps, with blood “squirting out” of the back of his neck and head. Police said Welsh slipped in and out of consciousness, asked if he was going to die and said he didn’t feel good.
