The new year is bringing some changes to Charleroi-based cfsbank, with the retirement of bank president and chief executive officer Neil Bassi effective Jan. 1.

Bassi could not be reached for comment, but bank officials said he had been with cfsbank for 28 years. Bert Cherry, who serves on the bank’s board of directors, has been named interim president.

“Our dedicated long-term employees are the core of our bank,” said Michael Lee, a member of the cfsbank board of directors and CEO of Lee Supply Co. in Charleroi.

Lee said the board is in the process of seeking a new president/CEO.

“We’re looking for a CEO that has the quality and the talent to take this very successful regional bank and move it forward,” Lee said. “We’re actually very excited for the future.”
