Grab your garland and get ready to deck the halls in time to participate in the Monongahela and Charleroi Christmas decorating contests.
The Monongahela Area Revitalization Corporation (MARC) and the Charleroi Fire Department will play host to the contests. While there’s no competition between the two towns, neighbors will go head-to-head to compete for the ultimate Christmas bragging rights.
George Eckert, president of MARC, said this marks the third year for the Mon City tournament, and participation has skyrocketed since its formation.
“We have had probably around 25 to 30 houses that participated in the community last year,” Eckert said.
Nancy Eckert was the original creator and curator of the event. The torch has been passed this year to MARC member Sarah O’Brien.
