Military veterans young and old were honored at Thomas Jefferson High School Monday morning at the school’s annual Veterans Day ceremony.
The event featured performances by the high school’s band and choir, speeches by Maj. Michael Thatcher, Army veterans Steve Mitrisin and Patrick Donahue and a rededication of the school’s veterans memorial.
The memorial is located outside the school and lists 10 Thomas Jefferson High School graduates who were killed in action during their military service.
“We’ve made it to this ceremony every year,” said Jefferson Hills resident Steve Catlos, who served as a second class radarman in the U.S. Navy from 1964 to 1968. “I think we could use more of this, but it’s great to see younger people honoring veterans. I’ve noticed more respect is coming our way.”
