Smith fell short on the Democratic ticket in the spring primary election, which led to Tuesday’s contested race.
Vlasic celebrated last night at St. Spyridon Hellenic Center with close to 100 family members, friends and most of all –– supporters.
During his victory speech, Vlasic made a point of laying out plans to work together with Smith to improve the city and lessen any political divides.
“I look forward to working with Jim and his whole staff,” he said. “I appreciate everybody that voted for him and supported him. That’s great. But hopefully now, we can work together, because he and I are going to have to work together.”
