All year long, Dayna Zajack proudly displays a pink license plate in the window of her car that reads, “Survivor.”
During October, which is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s common to see pink ribbons lining the walls of businesses and doctor’s offices or in the window of a passing car driving to work.
Many people mark the occasion by donating to a fundraiser to fight the disease, which will affect one in eight women during their lifetime.
Dayna never expected to be one of those women, but when she was taking a shower in December of 2014, she felt something that “wasn’t right.”
“I was in the shower washing off and felt something that was odd,” she said. “It was about the size of a pea, but it was something I took very seriously.”
