The Elizabeth Forward and Greensburg Salem girls soccer teams came into Monday’s night section finale with plenty to play for.
EF was trying to lock up the No. 2 spot in Section 2-3A while the Golden Lions were trying to punch their ticket to the WPIAL playoffs.

It took longer than expected to determine a winner, but the Warriors (8-7, 8-4) pulled it out 2-1.

Freshman Bria Vahosky who broke a 1-1 tie with 1:34 left in the first overtime, finally able to cash in after agitating Golden Lions’ defenders all night.

“I’ve tried to talk to Bria as the year’s gone on, just because another girl gets the ball, it doesn’t mean she can quit. You keep playing,” said EF coach Brandon Gerba. “It showed because everytime (one of them) got the ball before her, Bria gave her a hard enough time that she ended up getting it back.”
